AntiCrawler.org

Due to spam in my logs in the past from AdsPart.com back in 2014, I was monitoring IP 217.23.8.124 and then noticed that the domain alias called AntiCrawler.org was registered yesterday so I quickly added it to my filters as well as I suspected they would start visiting my sites within a week. Late last night, they were actively trying to get pass my website security protocols (and failed) to visit to encourage me to embed a small script in my WordPress pages to block bots.

To see if anything was negative with the file, I validated it at w3.org (so that I could see the view source) and was told that they were “unable to validate this document because its content type is text/javascript, which is not currently supported by this service” which confirmed my suspicion of the site.

Upon doing a view source of their anticrawler.php file, only one line of code was shown (the rest was hidden) and this line of code is also displayed when the file is executed directly from the browser.

If targeted users of StatCounter (with public stats) and WordPress decides to reference this file in their pages, they could risk the script getting access to embed advertisement, inject malware to subscribers and visitors along with knowing how visitors are finding your website to use in their Search Engine Optimization.

So how could the site launch so quickly? Well, it is all due to AntiCrawler.org being a domain alias to AdsPart.com which as been up for at least two months. I suspect that in another two months or so, they will registering more top-level domains with either .info or .net.
