HP LaserJet 600 M601

I had the opportunity to work on an HP LaserJet 600 M601. The Sandisk SSD inside failed but the user and their technician didn’t know and were about to throw it out. I told them to send it over to me so that I can take a look. In the worst-case scenario, the HP LaserJet 600 M601 could be saved for parts for a compatible system if I deemed it a loss.

99.09.67
When a 99.09.67 error is displayed on the control panel, per HP, it indicates that firmware is not loaded (wiped or the SSD failed) on the hard disk drive and is usually the result of failed, newly installed SSD, or performing a Clean Disk command on the drive.

To correct this issue, the latest firmware needs to be downloaded from HP’s Support website and then flashed using a USB flash 2.0 drive to an undamaged SSD. The error message will automatically launch the preboot menu when powered on but if it does not, you can read how to locate the Preboot Menu on HP Printers and launch it manually.
