Outlook Prompts for a Password

If Outlook prompts for a password, there are a few reason that it could happen and you may be able to resolve it yourself without putting in a call (since you can’t email) to your IT Department.

Password is Expired
A common reason that outlook will prompt for a password is that your network account is expired. Try accessing email from the once of your free internet browser and seek a detailed error message upon login. If it is expired, it will alert you to change it and list any stored emails. You can then return to Microsoft Outlook and have it open without it requesting a password. Keep in mind you may need to log off your network account or lock the screen then use the new password so that you can access a shared folder on your network.
