Remove Powered By

One question that I get often is how to edit or remove powered by details on the footer of programs used to make a website function in a specific way such as an online community, online store or online guide. I get reasons such as to “create a clean look” or to reduce their presence to spammers and exploiters which hunts through Search Engines results using the “powered by” keywords.

WordPress
For WordPress, it is as simple as editing the footer.php file inside the theme but keep in mind, updates will override your changes. Also, theme’s creator can configure updates of their themes to break or show a warning if edited so that you would be forced to obtain their donate/pro version.
