Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner

Recently, I had the opportunity to assist a client with their Epson Perfection V300 Photo Flatbed Scanner. Here are a few things that you should know if you will become the owner or user of one at home for at your business.

Drivers
For the scanner to work, drivers must be installed. Be sure to disconnect the USB cable when doing so and connect only when the software installer requests you to do so.

Ink Cartridge
This scanner is not a multifunctional one. This means no ink cartridges are required so you do not have to worry about buying ink when one runs out (or dies up from infrequent use) just to scan a document to your computer.

Lid
The scanner will operate with the lid up. This is great if you have to keep adding documents (since it lacks an ADF) or if you are scanning a thick item such as a book. When doing copies, keep in mind of copyrights and that there are certain documents are not allowed to be scanned.

PDF Software
Epson is nice enough to include PDF software with the scanner, but it is not enabled by default. You have to select it in the settings upon your first scan and then you are set for future scanning. Please note that if you try to install Adobe Acrobat, you may get a warning message telling you that a better PDF program is already installed so you no longer need install the software to use the Create from PDF option but will not have it for editing such as doing redactions on your scanned jobs. As the client did not need the Adobe Acrobat software, I did not try to remove the Epson suite and place the Adobe software first to see if it would now work in harmony.
