Fixing Audio Issues on a Hackintosh

If you need help in fixing audio issues on a Hackintosh, some of the tips below should aid you to resolve it.

No Audio over HDMI
If you have an issue getting audio from the iGPU’s HDMI OUT to an HDMI TV, do not be surprised. You can fix this easily by adding an AMD or Nvidia GPU (AMD is highly recommended to avoid web drivers) to the Hackintosh desktop system. If your GPU lacks an HDMI OUT, try the DisplayPort (if equipped) on the motherboard or GPU as this connector is often supported.

Kernel Extension
You will want to try AppleALC.kext and VoodooHDA.kext. If the recommended kext for your system fails and you are using the latest, try an older version first, and if that does not prove successful and you are using FakeSMC.kext as the recommended extension, try and switch over to VirtualSMC.kext. In my tests, AppleALC.kext works the best with VirtualSMC.kext and the latest versions still function while functionality stops while using along with FakeSMC.kext.
