HP LaserJet 6L

So, you need support on an HP LaserJet 6L? This is an old printer and I admire that you have kept it going for so long. With a bit of luck, maybe we can keep it going a little longer.

Not Feeding The Paper
If the HP LaserJet 6L is not feeding the paper and you see that the lights are blinking, it is an indication that the printer may need spacers. Unfortunately, they are no longer being provided by HP so you will have to see what used one can be obtained or compatible from Asia.

Not Showing Ready
After setting up the printer for the first time, it may show not ready which indicates that Windows is trying to push incompatible drivers. Uninstall the printer and remove the data cable and go to HP’s website and download drivers. Since the printer is old, Windows XP drivers will be the latest driver being offered, and a message that newer releases have it baked in. Just install using compatibility mode and the printer should work for a few more years if properly maintained.
