PHP4

Thursday, June 19, 2003 Articles, Tips Comments Off on PHP4

Did you know that PHP4 is one of the most popular server side languages on the Internet? You can embed PHP4 programming right into your site’s pages to add just about any kind of functionality you may want. PHP4 is a combination of Perl and C/C++, so it is very easy to learn if you know either of those languages (or even if you don’t!).

PHP4 can directly interface with databases (including SQL and ODBC), insert/remove cookies, do calculations, shopping carts and more. So, is PHP fast? It sure is! Apache + PHP has constantly outperform Microsoft’s ASP running on IIS on the NT platform. Major websites on the Internet use PHP plus popular databases to handle orders and transactions on their websites.
