Tips for Lync 2010

Thursday, February 13, 2014 Articles, Tips Comments Off on Tips for Lync 2010

Are you planning an online meeting? Here are some tips for Lync 2010 for those who are interested in conferencing with their computers and do not have it installed.

Installing
When installing, be sure to disable Lync 2013 if your computer features Office 2013. Once you have disabled Lync 2013 from you Office 2013 setup, your webinar will as you have intended.

Permissions
If you’ve joined a meeting as a presenter, you are given the ability to share. When you are in a meeting as an attendee, you DO NOT have the option to share.
This is the reason why the options are greyed out. Also, to start to use one of the sharing options, an organizer or presenter must make you a presenter.

Plugins
To run Lync 2010 correctly, be sure that Microsoft Silverlight is or can be installed on the computer. To find out in advance if Microsoft Silverlight is installed, go to the Programs and Features area of the Control Panel. To determine if you be able to install it, see if Adobe Flash is installed. To simplify your installation, Silverlight will be installed automatically during setup.

Operating Systems
Users should be happy to know that Silverlight works on all major Operating Systems. Along with the OS, there is also support for major browsers, including Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, and yes, Internet Explorer.
