Tips for New Bloggers

Wednesday, June 19, 2013 Articles, Tips Comments Off on Tips for New Bloggers

Here are some tips for new bloggers that I have been using since 2003.

Share What You Know
It can be hard to start a niche blog especially if you are not strong on the subject so for a first blog, it is best to share what you know. Once you gather a good number of subscribers or followers, start working on your niche blog and promote it to your readers for your first blog. An example would be to start a blog about your time camping and then use it to promote a blog that reviews camping supplies and if you bought your supplies online (for example, Amazon.com), link to the product and use you affiliate code.

Be Courteous
When doing your blog, be sure to be courteous as certain words on your site could turn away repeat visitors and the loss of a potential advertiser. Also, saying ACME product sucked last month and then promoting it next month when marketing contacts you show a lack of credibility.

Be a Good Citizen
Are people linking to your blog from social networks and their blogs? Super! Now is your chance to return the favor as it can encourage more bloggers to link to your content as well.

Cite Your Sources
Content changes all the time so it is a good idea to cite your sources. If information changes, you won’t have to hunt all over the web for the updates as it is linked from your pages.

Provide Clear Statements
Be clear in your statements on your blog. Watch for typos and grammatical errors that can bring down the authority of your blog.

Categorizing Your Blog Correctly
Be sure your categories match up correctly on your blog, wrong categories will cause mobile users to leave when things are too hard to find.
