Toshiba Satellite C55-C5268

A few months ago, someone brought to me a Toshiba Satellite C55-C5268 to fix as the mechanical hard disk drive had failed. I should have told them to junk it but since it could POST, I gave them the specs for a replacement and I gave them Belkin 55-Piece Computer Tool Kit so that they could install it themselves.

Time passed and now the laptop will not take a charge and since replacement batteries and power adapters that were bought by the owner did not solve the issue, they thought of me and brought it in again for repairs. Since I am very familiar with Toshiba laptops, I deduce four causes and will go over them below along with other issues that you will see on laptops from Toshiba made around 2015.

The Jack
The obvious issue is a damaged or disconnected jack since this is where the adapter is plugged in. Replacing should help or see if you are “the bomb” with your soldering skills. Also, make sure the plugs on the circuit board are connected in order and securely.

Damaged Adapter
Just because you see a green light on the power brick does not mean that juice is getting to the laptop so test it on another laptop to confirm or borrow a known working to test.
