Viewing PDFs of Paystubs

Here are some things that you should know when viewing PDFs of paystubs.

Passwords
The PDF file may require a password (commonly called a user password) to be viewed. The password will either be your employee ID number or your Social Security Number. Your employer could go a step further and implement a permission password (commonly called primary password) which restricts printing, editing, and the copying of content in the PDF. Since this would hamper what the employee could do, that would not be implemented or would could be unlocked by the employee ID number or your Social Security Number as well.

Desktop Reader
On a desktop system, Adobe Reader will be suitable to view the files. When Installing, ensure you do not add McAfee Security Scan Plus that Adobe tries to bundle in. If someone wanted to exploit your device, all they had to do was attack a bundled program that’s installed on your system as it may not be getting the update it needed as these are often trial versions.
