Spoofed: Zoom Hack

Friday, September 25, 2020 Articles, News Comments Off on Spoofed: Zoom Hack

These fake Zoom Hack emails are making their way around (with more formats expected) so don’t be fooled.

Email #1

Hello.

This will grab your attention. You have used Zoom recently, like most of us during these bad COVID times.
And I have very unfortunate news for you. I’ll give you some background on what happened. There was a zero day security vulnerability on Zoom app, that allowed me a full time access to your camera and some other metadata on your account.

I found a few interesting targets through random lookups. You were just unlucky to be on the list. After that, I did some creepy stuff and a few recordings, just for fun and to test a few things. And as you can imagine in your worst dreams, this happened. I have made a recording, where you work on yourself.

Please dont blame me or yourself for this, I didn’t have any bad intentions. I got very sick, lost my job, about to be evicted and have no money to survive. All of this because of the stupid virus. I’m sorry. I have no other choice. I do not want you to be the next Jeffrey Toobin. I’m sure you don’t want to be embarrassed. And I dont want to make this video public so your friends and colleagues can see it.

Let’s make a deal. You pay me $2000 in bitcoin, and nothing of this will happen. What happens next is up to you. I’ll give you 3 days to make the payment. After you send the money, I will delete the video and forget about you forever. The amount is not negotiable.

Send 0.18 Bitcoin (about 2k at current exchange rate) to my wallet [redacted]

P.S. Don’t try to report this to police, I use TOR and bitcoin can’t be traced. Do not email me back.

If you do something stupid, I will distribute the video.

Good luck! Don’t stress!

As they are desperate to get your funds, an email is sent again.

In case you didn’t get the last email. Read this.
You have used Zoom recently. And I have very unfortunate news for you.
I’ll give you some background on what happened.

There was a zero day security vulnerability on Zoom app, that allowed me a full time access to your camera and some other metadata on your account.
Basically, you were hacked.
And as you can imagine in your worst dreams, I have made a footage with you as a main actor.
Where you work on yourself (perform sex act to be clear). Having fun is ok with me, but is not ok with your reputation.

Please dont blame me or yourself for this. You couldn’t know that the camera was working.
I’m sure you don’t want to be the next Jeffrey Toobin and get embarrassed in front of all your friends, family and colleagues.
You should get this very clear, I will send this video to all your contacts if I dont get paid.
Are you wondering how I got your contacts and emails? Through the same exploit, zoom app allowed me to extract all sensitive info from your device.

So here is what we will do. You pay me $2000 in bitcoin, and nothing of this will happen. You have 2 days to make the payment.
After I get the money, I will delete the footage and information about you. The amount is not negotiable.
Send 0.15 Bitcoin (about 2k USD at the current exchange rate) to my wallet [redacted]
Having trouble with buying bitcoin? Just google on how to buy it, it’s very easy to use and anonymous.
P.S. Don’t try to report this to the police, I use TOR and bitcoin can’t be traced. Do not email me back. If you do something stupid, I will distribute the video.
Good luck. Don’t stress.

OneUpdater by VOMPT Limited

Sunday, November 3, 2019 Articles, News Comments Off on OneUpdater by VOMPT Limited

I got a call from a local library that uses Millenium ILS and Sierra ILS and they stated that they are unable to print reports again. The last time it happened, it was due to the Adware on the computer so I grabbed a copy of Malwarebytes and the Barracuda Malware Removal Tool and headed out the door.

Malwarebytes was already on the PC from my visit from 30 days ago so I did an update to the definitions and let it run. To my amazement, Malwarebytes found nothing so I went back to my screen capture of the Control Panel from my last visit to see what is added or removed and noticed that OneUpdater by VOMPT Limited and SSOption by Deep Repeat Use were installed to the computer the very next day after I provided a service call.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92nzhLs-kcg

It seems that the students who got permission to work in the library were using the computer that is dedicated to library operations for streaming movies as the computers in the OPAC (online public access catalog) area are configured to restrict such activities by the Barracuda Web Filters.

If you found one or both installed on the computer, please note that you may have to remove them manually through the Control Panel uninstall function. Once that is done, continually updating Malwarebytes daily so that it can catch any hidden traces that may be left behind.

Stereosaut Audio Equipment

Friday, November 1, 2019 Articles, News Comments Off on Stereosaut Audio Equipment

I buy and sell most, if not all, my audio equipment through the Amazon.com website as my Amazon Business Prime account allows me as a buyer to have up to 90 days to pay for items or an instant 5% cashback. This gives my customers buying locally the chance to pay me monthly or if they are paying in advance, to get a rebate at the end of the next billing cycle.

Even though the prices on Amazon are great, I found a local shop to be lower with some sweet deals, especially on multiple items. If you are the type that likes to interact with the equipment before you buy, do yourself a favor and check out The Stereosaut Audio Equipment across the parking lot of the of Kelp’s Wild Waterways.

Fake Microsoft Support

Thursday, February 28, 2019 Articles, News Comments Off on Fake Microsoft Support

If you are trapped on a page below, here are a few tips on how to get out of it on Internet Explorer.

Fake Support Site
* lamination.icu

Desktop
On a desktop computer with Internet Explorer as the browser, you will need to disconnect the Ethernet cable from the back of the computer or the wall jack if the desktop computer is in a locked podium or the rear is difficult to reach. Once the Ethernet cable is disconnected from the desktop computer, the web page will not have a chance to refresh the content from the Internet (thus causing an HTTP 404 Error) and this will end your session to allow you to close the browser or tab with the rogue page.

Laptop
On a laptop computer with Internet Explorer as the browser and using a wireless connection, you will need to disable wireless using Control Panel or WiFi switch (if equipped) on the front or side of the laptop. With the laptop disconnected from the Access Point, the webpage will not have a chance to refresh the content from the Internet (thus causing an HTTP 404 Error) and this will end your session thus allowing you to close the browser or tab. If the laptop can access the Internet over an Ethernet cable, please disconnect the Ethernet cable from the laptop as well.

Prevention
To prevent this from happening again to you, look to alternate browsers and use these for surfing the Internet and save Internet Explorer for the Intranet programs at your company or for your online banking as alternate browsers have a feature to prevent a web page from creating dialog boxes over and over. For a list of free Internet browsers, check on your favorite Search Engine then download from their official site to prevent yourself from adding threats on your device. Keep in mind, you may need to use the an Administrator account since the install will affect all users.

Spoofed: I Know One of Your Password

Tuesday, May 1, 2018 Articles, News Comments Off on Spoofed: I Know One of Your Password

Does someone know one of your passwords? If you now how to scramble a password to make it harder to guess and change it frequently, most likely not. They however, do know your email if you got one of the following. It happens by registering for service, having it on posted on your website or in your whois listing.

I know JohnDoe one of your pass word. Lets get right to purpose. You don’t know me and you’re most likely wondering why you’re getting this e-mail? Not one person has compensated me to investigate you.

In fact, I setup a malware on the 18+ videos (pornography) web site and guess what, you visited this site to experience fun (you know what I mean). While you were watching videos, your internet browser started out operating as a Remote Desktop with a keylogger which provided me access to your display and web camera. after that, my software program collected every one of your contacts from your Messenger, FB, as well as emailaccount. After that I made a double-screen video. First part displays the video you were watching (you have a nice taste lol), and 2nd part shows the recording of your web cam, & its u.

You got two different options. We are going to go through these solutions in aspects:

Very first solution is to neglect this email. As a result, I will send out your very own videotape to all your your contacts and then consider regarding the disgrace you will get. And likewise if you happen to be in a relationship, just how it will eventually affect?

Other option is to give me $7000. Lets describe it as a donation. In such a case, I will instantaneously erase your video recording. You can go on your way of life like this never occurred and you never will hear back again from me.

You’ll make the payment by Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search for “how to buy bitcoin” in Google search engine).

BTC Address: [redacted]
[CASE sensitive copy and paste it]

In case you are curious about going to the authorities, good, this email message cannot be traced back to me. I have dealt with my moves. I am just not trying to charge a fee a whole lot, I prefer to be compensated. I’ve a specific pixel in this message, and right now I know that you have read this email message. You have one day in order to make the payment. If I do not receive the BitCoins, I will certainly send out your video recording to all of your contacts including members of your family, coworkers, and so forth. Nonetheless, if I do get paid, I’ll erase the video immediately. If you need evidence, reply with Yes! and I definitely will send your video to your 15 contacts. It is a non-negotiable offer, thus please don’t waste my personal time and yours by responding to this email message.

I am well aware JohnDoe2018 is your passphrase. Lets get directly to the point. You do not know me and you’re most likely wondering why you are getting this email? Not one person has compensated me to investigate you. actually, I placed a malware on the 18+ streaming (porn material) website and guess what, you visited this website to have fun (you know what I mean). When you were watching video clips, your web browser initiated functioning as a Remote Desktop that has a key logger which provided me with access to your display screen as well as webcam. Right after that, my software program gathered every one of your contacts from your Messenger, Facebook, and e-mail . Next I created a video. 1st part displays the video you were watching (you’ve got a fine taste hahah), and 2nd part shows the recording of your cam, and its u.

Hey – I actually know all of the dirty secrets of your life. I will not explain you exactly what I know, I’ve every piece of information along with me. To prove this, allow myself say to you that one of your passwords is actually ********. Pay me $3000 via BITC01N to the address [redacted] within the next 45 hrs. Let me make one thing clear, that I will ruin your life fully if I do not get the payment. When I do get the payment, I will erase every last information I have with me, and I will go away for good and you’ll don’t ever hear a thing from me. It is the first and final email from me as well as the offer can not be negotiated, therefore do not answer to this mail.

Internet Taxes on eBay

Wednesday, March 7, 2018 Articles, News Comments Off on Internet Taxes on eBay

eBay supports tax policy that is fair to entrepreneurs, artisans, and small businesses, which are vital to the American economy, and they oppose efforts to impose taxes that would harm these businesses. Millions of people across the country sell on the eBay marketplace, and there has never been a more critical time to stand against new and unfair Internet taxes.

The U.S. Supreme Court will make a decision in the coming weeks that could give states the right to tax every small business on the Internet.

The issue is just as urgent on Capitol Hill, as states, shopping centers, and large retailers lobby hard to increase taxes on small businesses and their online customers. When the Supreme Court makes its decision, it will bring together the various threads on the issue of Internet sales tax.

Our leaders in Washington, D.C., and in state capitals across America need to know how you feel about these new and harmful Internet tax burdens. Please digitally sign this petition to show political leaders that you stand with us against these new taxes. It should take less than three minutes. eBay will deliver your signatures to President Trump, key members of Congress, and select state governors.

Rest assured that eBay will continue to fight this battle on behalf of all of our valued customers. Thank you for taking a stand for millions of small businesses across America.

Lines While Printing and Scanning

Tuesday, March 21, 2017 Articles, News Comments Off on Lines While Printing and Scanning

Are you seeing lines while printing and scanning on an HP All-In-One Printer? I have encountered this issue numerous times and I can use my experience to assist you.

TROUBLESHOOTING

One Sided Print
Open up a text editor (such as Microsoft Word) and then type the word FRONT and then print it to the affected printer. Does the print job come out with the lines still showing on the side where the text is written on the page? If so, you may have an issue with the ink system which needs further investigation.

Two Sided Print
For the two sided print, use your text editor (such as Microsoft Word) and add FRONT to page one and BACK to on the second page. When you print the document, remember to select double sided. If both sides comes out dirty or with lines, you have confirmed the ink is the culprit. For page one having lines and page two being clear, you just confirmed that the device needs to be calibrated and cleaned.

One Sided Scan/Copy
If you are doing a one sided scan using the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) or the Flatbed and see lines in your preview or print out, you will need to make sure that the device is on and then pull the power cord out from the rear of the device for at least 15 seconds. When you reconnect the power, it will attempt to recalibrate itself so make sure the flatbed and ADF are empty before reconnecting.

Two Sided Scan/Copy
If you are doing a two sided scan using the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) and see lines in your preview or print out on the FRONT page only, you will need to make sure that the device is on and then pull the power cord out from the rear of the device for at least 15 seconds. When you reconnect the power, it will attempt to recalibrate itself so make sure the flatbed and ADF are empty before reconnecting.
