Usernames for cPanel Accounts

Here are some things that you should know about usernames for cPanel accounts. It will go a long way to keeping your account safe and to manage your websites.

  • A username must have between 1 and 16 characters.
  • A username must start with a letter.
  • The username cannot be the same as the password.

After entering the domain name, the username will auto populate (up to 16 characters) and if this is not changed, hackers already have one piece of information to get in to cPanel so be sure to change it. An example is, “facebook” auto populates for facebook.com so make add more characters to make brute force harder.
