WordPress Theme is Breaking SSL

Tuesday, August 19, 2003 Articles, Tips Comments Off on WordPress Theme is Breaking SSL

If your WordPress Theme is breaking SSL, you should know that I have had that happen to me personally and has come up with a few ways to detect and repair.

Fonts
Publishers of themes for WordPress will often use fonts hosted on Google’s servers and when they do this, will link to them using at times using http over https. You will then have to search the theme’s CSS files (ie. nivo-slider.css in Gravida theme) then manually edit them. Keep in mind if it is not fixed, updates will bring back the issue.

Pictures
Any and all photos that cam with the theme or hosted on external servers are a potential for disaster so be sure to check on them as well. Keep in mind invisible images can be embedded so the publisher can see who has it installed and how many users so they can gage if they should continue future support.
