AdsPart.com

Saturday, October 18, 2014 Articles, News Comments Off on AdsPart.com

Due to spam in my logs in the past, I was monitoring IP 217.23.8.124 and then noticed that the domain AdsPart.com was registered yesterday so I added it to my filters and late last night, they were trying to get pass my website security protocols to encourage me to embed a small script in my page to block bots.

To see if anything was negative with the file, I validated it at w3.org and was told that they were “unable to validate this document because its content type is text/javascript, which is not currently supported by this service” which confirmed my suspicion.

Upon doing a view source of their anticrawler.php file, only one line of code was shown (the rest was hidden) and this line of code is also displayed when the file is executed directly from the browser.

If targeted users of StatCounter and WordPress decides to add this file to their pages, they could risk the script getting access to embed advertisement on their pages or inject malware to subscribers and visitors along with how visitors are finding your website.
