Optimize a Site for Mobile Devices

Wednesday, April 2, 2003 Articles, Tips Comments Off on Optimize a Site for Mobile Devices

How do you optimize a site for mobile devices? Here are some key tips that I adhere to make my sites stand out.

Loading
When a page on your website tries to load on a mobile device, make sure that the page will load within five (5) seconds. If the site takes longer to load for a first-time visitor, they may assume your site is not compatible with their mobile device or broken and kill the connection to prevent wasting their available time on their data plan. A return visitor may wait for the pages to load but may visit a faster loading site before your website if they feel that the alternate site will have the information they need.

Viewing
A mobile device screen size is very important so while building your site, you should make sure that the page will look acceptable so your visitors can read and navigate properly to related pages and your affiliates.
