Six Beeps on a Dell PC

Are you hearing six beeps on a Dell PC when you attempt to power it on? If so, there are a few things to check if you did not open the case of the computer.

Keyboard
If a key is stuck on your keyboard, you will hear beeps upon start. It will more likely sound like you dropped coins while going a flight of stairs.

Memory Module
If you hear a Beep, Beep Beep Beep, Beep, Beep, it is the memory. Notice the 1-3-1-1 pattern and not 1-1-1-1-1-1. At first, it may sound like that to you but after reading this, the pattern that I have mentioned will now be stuck in your mind.

Memory Slot
The slot to hold the memory modules can go bad since it is integrated into the motherboard. When they go bad, you have to hope that the system is still under the normal manufacture warranty or that you opted for extended warranty and that time still remains.
